| why cant you install them yourself? i dont really know duramax well but for my truck its a pita but it doesnt seem so bad. also look into remans or whatever its called where they rebuild yours to what you want alot cheaper then new or anything like that and you can get some nice big ones | |

| There's a forum with pics on the bombers site on changing them... I only have the one vehicle tho... Anything i do usually requires every tool that i don't own (and i own quite a few) so I make multiple trips to NAPA which means after tearing apart, i have to rebuild, drive to town, and then tear down again... LOL i get my mechanical exercise... As far as remans, they are pretty much all remans... the remans are $350/ea... I would like some bigger ones tho... I'll have to do my research... | |

| Thankfully getting power out of my Cummins is a lot cheaper a full set of performance Injector starts for around $650 for the set, But the Injection pump is another thing though, I have the P7100 Mechanical Pump and to buy a new one is easily $2800, and thankfully my NV4500 5spd manual was fully and completely rebuilt(new clutch kit new set of internal gears) before i bought the truck, for if you believe it $2200 dollars, the owner thought the injection pump was gone, and also needed the money, it ended up just being out of time, pheww i escaped a major bill | |

| yeah got lucky there. hey its a very nice truck im having some tranny issues where it wont shift if i put it to the floor and will bounce off the limiter until i let off. no idea whats wrong so thats where im at with my trans but its brand new maybe 10000 miles | |

| is it a manual?, or even if it is an automatic it sounds like it has a lockout when you rev it up and it wont engage till you get to a safe engine speed where the gears can mesh with out ruining something. I know that mine will not let me downshift until i get to a certain speed, it does that to keep the clutch from slipping on the flywheel at high speeds, it also keeps the engine from severe over revving.
Now if it just started doing it, that is another story i do not exactly know what is wrong but an educated guess is there is something broken in the transmission that keeps it from syncing and locking up at high speeds.
I'll ask around though and make sure just let me know what type of tranny it is, I know a few superb master transmission mechanics that i am on a first name basis with and I can get you an answer | |
